Arrival in Oulu
Our adventure began in the charming city of Oulu, where we spent two exciting days exploring the local culture and attending an unforgettable Soen concert at the Tullisali venue. It was a special night, especially for Anca and Cătălin, who had the unique opportunity to capture the event up close with a photo pass.
The stunning photos Anca and Cătălin took are a beautiful reminder of our time there.
Journey to the Arctic Circle
From Oulu, we embarked on a scenic drive to the Arctic Circle, filled with anticipation and a bit of concern about the overcast skies.
The landscapes of Finland, with their endless forests and frozen lakes, reminded us of the serene beauty of neighboring Sweden. We enjoyed seeing locals engage in various activities on the ice, from skating to ice fishing, adding a lively touch to the frozen scenery.
Hiking on a cold and windy day can be both challenging and exhilarating. The sharp bite of the wind challenges even the most prepared adventurers.
Despite these conditions, the experience can be immensely rewarding—the quiet of a winter landscape, punctuated by gasps of wind, offers a unique kind of solitude and stark beauty.
Our worries about missing the Northern Lights due to the cloudy weather soon vanished as the skies cleared, revealing a breathtaking display of the rare red Aurora.
The red Aurora was a first for us, adding to our Northern Lights adventures!
When the red Aurora dances across the sky, the entire landscape transforms, casting everything in a surreal, pinkish glow that creates a magical, otherworldly atmosphere.
Our journey concluded in the Rovaniemi area, a place that embodies the spirit of Lapland. Here, the magic of the Northern Lights danced across the sky, painting it with shades of red and green, a spectacular sight that was the perfect finale to our Finnish adventure.
Each location offered unique experiences, from serene natural beauty to thrilling winter activities.
