A Fresh Start to the Year in Gran Canaria

There is no better way to start a new year than by escaping to a place that feels familiar. For us, that meant returning to the Canary Islands with our close friends, Anca and Cătălin. After the rush of the holidays, it was the perfect chance to unwind, soak in breathtaking views, and enjoy the island’s relaxed pace.

As always, the food was incredible – fresh local specialties, and long, unhurried meals shared with good company. But what truly made this trip special were the moments in between. Watching fireworks light up the sky from the cliffs on New Year’s Eve, chasing sunsets that painted the horizon in shades of gold and pink, and simply taking a break from the agitated rhythm of city life.

To kick off the year in the best way possible, we also went on a hike to Roque Nublo on January 1st. The journey there was just as stunning as the destination: winding mountain roads, breathtaking viewpoints, and an ever-changing landscape that felt almost surreal. Once we reached the top, the view was absolutely spectacular, a perfect reward for the effort.

This was a reminder of how much we love this place, not just for its beauty but for the way it makes us slow down and appreciate the little things.
